Bangalore:
The chances of Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S) supremo H D Devegowda meeting rebel MLAs appeared 'feeble' and he is expected to make known his position on the fate of Dharam Singh Government this (Jan 26,2006)afternoon, a party spokesman said.
Rebel MLAs led by Gowda's son, H D Kumaraswamy, appeared 'disinclined' and the chances of the meeting are 'feeble', party spokesman Y S V Datta said.
Gowda left for Sringeri, a place of pilgrimage in Chikamagalur district, this morning and would return here afternoon, when he would hold a meeting with the district units chiefs on the next course of action, he said.
The JDS chief had asked the rebel MLAs on tour in Udupi district yesterday (Jan 25,2006) to rush to the city to meet him to discuss ways to end the imbroglio prevailing for the last one week after the splinter group withdrew support to the Dharam Singh
government and decided to form an alternative Government with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Ahead of the vote of confidence Chief Minister N Dharam Singh is seeking tomorrow, the JDS supremo would also issue an appeal to the rebel MLAs to uphold the party's ideology and ideals, he said.
Kumaraswamy had made it clear yesterday that there was no change in their stand, irrespective of the outcome of talks between his father and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on finding a solution to the crisis.
MLAs of BJP who were in Tamil Nadu fearing poaching attempts by the Congress are also expected to return to the city today. The party central leadership has asked senior
leader M Venkaiah Naidu and General Secretary Ananth Kumar to be in Bangalore to 'guide' the state unit.
