Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus begins its trial run

Amritsar: The trial run of Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus, carrying 12 Punjab and central Government officials, began here today (Jan 27,2006).

The bus from Amritsar in Punjab to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, where Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikh religion was born, left the International Terminal here at 9.20 am.

The bus service is on the demands of the prime Sikh religious and management body of the Harmandhar Sahib (GoldenTemple in Amritsar).

The bus is 45 seater Volvo Super Luxury bus operated by Punjab Roadways in Amritsar for the journey on the Indian side, according to the General Manager Punjab Roadways Lakhwinder Singh Dharowali.

The one way fare of the bus is Rs 700 from the Indian side in Indian currency and Rs 900 from the Pakistani side in Pakistan currency.
