B'lore: Kumaraswamy firm on ousting Dharam Singh
Friday, January 27 2006 14:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: Remaining firm on his stand, Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S) rebel leader H D Kumaraswamy today (Jan 26,2006) said Dharam Singh Government would be voted out and there was no change in his decision to align with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a new Government in Karnataka.

"There is no question of going back. It is a question of survival of the party,", son of JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, told reporters in the Assembly lounge before the Chief Minister was to move the motion seeking vote of confidence.

Kumaraswamy said he had kept aside the 'family sentiments' to save the party.

"I am helpless now. We are firm on voting out the Government", he said.

Asked if his father had written any letter to him asking him to retract his steps, he said, "It is a family matter".

Devegowda had a meeting with Kumaraswamy yesterday in a last-minute attempt to prevail upon him not to go ahead with his move to team up with BJP, but it ended up unsucessful.
