Left parties writes to PM on Iran nuclear issue

New Delhi: Left parties yesterday (Jan 26,2006)decided to write to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking him that India should not vote in favour of any proposal leading to referring the Iran nuclear issue to the UN Security Council.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Left parties, attended among others by Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) General Secretary Prakash Karat and Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan.

The meeting also decided to oppose FDI in retail sector and take up the issue with the Government.
