Kharge lashes out at Gowda for 'political drama'
Saturday, January 28 2006 19:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge today minced no words in blaming Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S) supremo H D Devegowda for engineering the 'whole political drama for making his son H D Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister'.

"He ultimately did all this political drama to make his son the Chief Minister and he has succeeded in it", Kharge told reporters here.

Terming the political imbroglio that prevailed in the state for the past several days as a 'conspiracy', he alleged that the JDS "Whom we believed, took us for a ride and not only betrayed our trust but stabbed us behind our back for power".

Not sparing Assembly Speaker Krishna for adjourning the house sine die when it was not in order yesterday, Kharge made it known in no uncertain terns that "There was no need for him to do so".

"If he (Speaker) really wanted to resolve the issue he could have adjourned the house for a brief while, convened a meeting of the floor leaders, the chief minister and law and parliamentary affairs minister and taken everybody into confidence" which he did not do, he said.

When Chief Minister Dharam Singh brought to the Speaker's notice that the house was not in order, "he should have made all efforts to bring it in order", Kharge said.
