Policy on illegal constructions soon: Jaipal Reddy Saturday, January 28 2006 19:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
As Delhi's top politicians were served notices for owning alleged illegal constructions, Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy today (Jan 28,2006)said the Centre was formulating a policy for a 'win-win' solution to the problem of unauthorised structures.
"All unauthorised structures cannot be treated on the same level. There is a need to look at the degrees of violation. We will prepare a policy to reach a solution to
this problem," he told reporters here.
"The policy would prescribe penalty according to degree of violations. It would discriminate serious building violations like construction on public places from minor offences like building an additional room flouting the building plan, he said.
"I need to consult Delhi Chief Minister, leaders of all parties and the Lt Governor before framing a policy," he said.
"n the meantime, the demolition drive in the national capital would continue," he said.
Regarding observations of High Court on corrupt officials in MCD, Reddy said,"The situation is fairly serious".
"The concerned organisation must take cognisance of the observations and take steps," he said.
