Rajnath urges K'taka Govt to invite Kumaraswamy

New Delhi: With Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh announcing his decision to resign, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh today (Jan 28,2006) asked Governor T N Chaturvedi to invite H D Kumaraswamy, leader of the Janata Dal (JD) Secular (S)-BJP alliance, to form the next Government in the state.

"The JD(S)-BJP alliance enjoys clear majority. We are confident that the Governor will invite Kumaraswamy to form the Government," he told reporters here.

Singh said following the understanding reached between the two parties, Kumaraswamy will be the Chief Minister for the first half of the remaining tenure with a BJP candidate as Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader B S Yediyurappa will be the Chief Minister in the second half.

About the composition of the next ministry, he said all details were being worked out at the state level and they would be made public once the Government is formed.
