Mumbai: Deputy leader Shishir Shinde quits Shiv Sena
Saturday, January 28 2006 14:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena suffered a jolt when its deputy leader Shishir Shinde quit the saffron party.

Shinde had shot into limelight for digging up the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium to oppose the Indo-Pak cricket match in 1991.

Shinde, former MLC, sent his resignation to Sena chief Bal Thackeray yesterday saying he was hurt by Thackeray's remarks about him during the meeting on the occasion of the supremo's 79th birthday on January 23.

Thackeray had launched a tirade against Shinde and Sena MLA Bala Nangaonkar, who have been supporting former Sena leader Raj Thackeray since the latter quit the party.
