Mumbai: Extradited gangster Abu Salem and his associate Shah Alam were today(Feb 2,2006) remanded to police custody till February 15 by a local court in the murder case of Ajit Dewani, Secretary of actress Manisha Koirala.

Alam was arrested today and produced in the court along with Salem. According to police, Dewani was murdered in 2001 at Salem's behest after he failed to pay extortion money.

Police alleged that Alam was a conduit between Salem and killers of Dewani and that he had provided murderers arms to kill the victim.
