CM allays doubts over execution of work on Airport

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today (Feb 6,2006) sought to allay doubts about the speedy execution of work on the Bangalore International Airport Project.

"I have directed the officials to expedite the work", Kumaraswamy told reporters here and stated that there was noneed for any apprehension that it would be delayed.

He was referring to reports that the project might suffer more delays as the Union Civil Aviation Ministry had asked the Bangalore International Airport Limited to prepare a new blueprint, keeping in mind the spurt in passenger traffic.

Work on the runway has commenced and as per the existingschedule, the airport is expected to be operational by 2008.
