Bangalore: JD(S)-BJP Government in Karnataka today (Feb 6,2006) directed officials to formulate an action plan to meet infrastructure needs of Bangalore for the next 30 years and asked the civic agencies to complete roadmaintenence work in the IT hub within three months.

"Funds would not be a constraint in taking up infrastructure projects. The government is keen on retaining the brand name, Bangalore city has earned", Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told reporters after chairing a high-level meeting of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (city corporation), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and other agencies here.

He said the Government has asked the city corporation and BDA to complete works in about three to four months and the police to put in place plans to reduce traffic congestion.

Kumaraswamy said the traffic police have been told to submit a comprehensive report outlining the steps needed to remove traffic bottlenecks.

A high-level committee comprising officials from BDA, Bangalore Water Supply, BESCOM (city electricity service provider) and City Corporation will be set up for coordination between them in addressing the infrastructure problems of the city, Kumaraswamy said.

He also assured that the demands of Information Technology and Bio Technology sectors, regarding infrastructure, would be taken note of.

He said a decision on merger of seven City Municipal Council areas with the City corporation for their overall development would be undertaken soon.

Kumaraswamy said the BDA has been also asked to form a residential layout to provide plots for the shelter less in the city.
