Kumaraswamy cautious on poll alliance with BJP Monday, February 6 2006 14:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Adopting a cautious stand on whether to retain his party's alliance with BJP for the next assembly polls, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today (Feb 6 2006) said the issue would be addressed by party president and his father H D Devegowda and other national office-bearers.
"JDS and BJP have now formed the Government to give thrust to development. Issues like forging ties with BJP in the next assembly polls will be decided by president Devegowda and national office bearers," he told sources.
Kumaraswamy's clarification comes in the wake of reports quoting him as saying that the JDS ties with BJP would continue in the next assembly elections also.
Gowda had been opposing his son's decision to align with BJP in forming the Government after pulling down the Congress-led coalition Government. Gowda had also threatened disciplinary action against his party rebels including Kumaraswamy.
