Maoists attack police post, blast communication tower

Raipur: Heavily-armed Maoists attacked a police post killing two policemen and injuring eight security personnel and blasted a communication tower in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh early today(Feb 6,2006).

The Maoists, numbering over 150, attacked the Arra Police Outpost, about 400 kms from here, hurling explosives and firing at security personnel, police said.

Two policemen were killed and eight security personnel were injured in the attack, they said adding the naxals took away a large quantity of arms and ammunition before fleeing.

They also blasted a communication tower in the area, police said adding the injured security men were admitted to hospital where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.
