Patna HC reserves order on Jaiprakash's bail plea Tuesday, February 7 2006 14:50 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
The Patna High Court today (Feb 7,2006) reserved its order on the anticipatory bail application of former Union minister and RJD MP Jaiprakash Narain Yadav in connection with a case charging him with causing "illegal" escape of his brother from police custody during the assembly elections.
Justice Navin Sinha reserved his order after hearing Ranapratap Singh and C R Sinha, counsels for Yadav, and government pleader S C Mishra.
Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate of Jamui A K Jha had on February 2 issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against Yadav as chief judicial magistrate R C Singh had transferred the case to the SDJM after taking cognizance of the
chargesheet in the case on January 18.
Vijay Prakash, Yadav's brother who unsuccessfully contested the elections from Jamui on RJD ticket, is already lodged in judicial custody.
Vijay Prakash was arrested on October 18 last year for going around in his constituency with over Rs six lakh in cash, a licensed rifle, a huge quantity of ammunition and liquor bottles, but was let off in controversial circumstances allegedly after Jaiprakash Narain Yadav had intervened.
