Tuesday, February 7 2006 11:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jammu: A major tragedy was averted in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir by detection and neutralising of 15-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) last evening, a defence spokesman said today (Feb 7,2006).

A routine patrol party of security forces detected the IED planted by ultras in a plastic container on a road at Batungla-Goha, 15-kms south west of Doda town, he said.

The area was cordoned off and the experts neutralised the explosives on-the-spot, the spokesman said.

By neutralising the IED, a major tragedy was averted as the road is frequented by army and civil traffic, he added.
