Kalam proposes connecting universities: S Korea Tuesday, February 7 2006 15:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Seoul:
President Kalam suggested that India and South Korea should consider creating 'virtual university' grid by networking their universities in specific areas of research and development to meet the requirements of their respective national missions and for capacity-building.
"This virtual university grid will provide the best of education to its member countries from the universities based on their core competencies and ensure collaborative learning leading to creation of knowledge societies," he said.
Kalam outlined a ten-point objective of the Virtual University Grid which includes using it as a hub of all universities, research and development centres.
The grid would broadcast lectures of specialists at mutually convenient time to all participants, enable any university student to access quality education at his desktop, record live transmission of the lecture in a data bank for review learning and network all teachers training programmes.
