Dharam Singh flays BJP-JDS coalition Government Wednesday, February 8 2006 16:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
Launching a sharp attack on the BJP-JDS coalition Government, Opposition Congress leader in the Assembly and former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh today (Feb 8 2006) accused it of forming an 'unholy alliance' devoid of principles or ideology.
Participating in the debate on the motion of confidence moved by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, soon after he was recognised as the opposition leader by Speaker Krishna, Singh told the Chief Minister his father and JDS supremo H D Deve Gowda "is shocked and suffering" because of his actions.
Taunting Kumaraswamy for making 'adventurous moves' by aligning with 'communal forces', Singh alleged the new alliance was based neither on ideology nor any principles.
Singh, whose Government was brought down by a political coup staged by Kumaraswamy after he led a revolt within his party to withdraw support to JDS-Congress coalition, reminded him that, as Prime Minister, his father had refused to accept the offer of support from BJP when the United Front Government was on the verge of collapse.
Singh said Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa of BJP still spoke of 'Hindutva' and wondered how Kumaraswamy joined hands with that party. Maintaining that he never clamoured for power, Singh said he wanted to prove his majority on January 27 as directed by Governor T N Chaturvedi but could not because he did not get an opportunity when the assembly adjourned sine die.
