JMM to oppose bill on banning religious conversion Thursday, February 9 2006 14:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dhanbad:
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will vehemently oppose a bill on banning religious conversion in Jharkhand if it is tabled in the state assembly, Union Coal Minister and JMM supremo Shibu Soren said today (Feb 9,2006).
The conversion of religion was personal and a sensitive matter and therefore the BJP-led NDA government in the state must not interfere with it, he told reporters here.
If the Arjun Munda government tried to bring such a bill in the Assembly, his party was geared up to meet the challenge, Soren, also a former chief minister, said.
The Union minister charged the BJP and RSS with trying to flare up communal tension in the state for political mileage by introducing such type of a legislation.
However, the JMM, he said, would not allow them to succeed.
Replying to a query, the Coal minister reiterated that the policy of job against land in coal industry would be continued. He said that displaced persons of coal industry would not be made victim of injustice at any cost.
He said that the sale of coal through e-auction would be continued in Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) as it was giving profit to the company.
Hard coke industry and other coal-based factories would also be given adequate coal supply for smooth functioning, he said.
