New Delhi: In a major bonanza for customers, state owned BSNL and MTNL today announced a maximum tariff of Rs one per minute for calls anywhere in the country under the much publicised One-India plan, effective from March 1.

The two communication companies jointly announced the new telecom packages under which BSNL would offer a minimum tariff of 40 paise a minute for its mobile subscribers (post-paid) for calls on its network.

Under the new tariff package, fixed-line services would have a rental of Rs 299 a month and the local call charges would be Rs 1 for three minutes.

All other calls made from landline phones anywhere in the country or on mobile phones would be charged at the rate of Rs one a minute, BSNL Chairman A K Sinha told reporters.

For its post-paid mobile services, the corporation has proposed a rental of Rs 299 and the calls to other BSNL subscribers would be at the rate of 40 paise a minute. Calls to any other network across the country would attract a tariff of Rs one a minute, he said.

The pre-paid subscribers, on the other hand are being offered a package or Rs 799 which would include a talk time of Rs 550 for a validity period of 30 days. Under the package, calls made to BSNL subscribers would be at the rate of 60 paise a minute while for other networks it would be at the rate of Rs one a minute.
