CM's conference on power sector reforms called off
Friday, February 10 2006 16:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The high-level conference of state chief ministers, power ministers and finance ministers on power sector reforms, scheduled to take place here on February 13, has been postponed.

No fresh dates have been decided yet for the conference, official sources said, but did not give any reason for the postponement.

The conference is unlikely to be held this month given that the Parliament's budget session starts on February 16.

The conference, which was convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was expected to discuss issues such as free power, checking thefts and preparing a business plan for commercial revival of the power sector.

The conference was also expected to look at other key issues such as ultra mega power plants, execution of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana and assess preparation of states for meeting 11th plan targets.
