Flash Strike by Air Sahara pilots, flights delayed Sunday, February 12 2006 11:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
At least ten morning of private carrier Air Sahara from here were today cancelled or delayed following a flash strike by a large number of its pilots.
Scores of passengers were accomodated in Jet Airways and Kingfisher arlines by the airlines ground staff, Air Sahara sources said here.
There has been unrest among the pilots after the 500 million US dollar takeover of the airlines by Jet Airways, where their pay and perks are on the lower side than that of the acquired airline.
The pilots have also been holding talks with the management on this issues, sources said.
It is learnt that many pilots of Air Sahara have put in their papers following the takeover last month
Top officials of the airlines said that negotiations with the pilots on the pay issue were going on a positive note.
Describing the strike as 'unjustified,' a senior official, who did not want to be named, said the merger would not result in any job loss for the pilots.
"At this moment, our basic thrust is to accomodate the passengers to other flights and ensure that they reach their destinations without much trouble," he added.
