Nepal's royal Government yesterday (Feb 14,2006) released 115 political leaders and human rights activists who were detained over the past two-three weeks for their involvement in Municipal poll boycott campaign.
Nepali Congress (Democratic) central committee members Shivachandra Mishra and Jeevan Shahi were among the political activists who were released today, party sources said.
Twentyone women and 40 student activists were also freed in the wake of growing national and international pressure on King Gyanendra to release political detainees and restore democracy in the country.
Hundreds of other political activists affiliated to the seven political parties are still in different jail with many of them receiving three month arrest warrants.
