SP threatens 'no-confidence motion' in Parliament Wednesday, February 15 2006 18:13 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Accusing the Congress-led UPA Government of compromising with the country's interests on Iran issue, Samajwadi Party today (Feb 15 2006) threatened to bring a 'no-confidence' motion in Parliament if it again voted against Iran on March 6 meeting at the IAEA.
"On Iran issue, Congress-led Government of India had twice voted against Teheran ignoring the established policies of the country. There will be another IAEA meeting on March 6 and we warn the Government that we will bring a no-confidence motion if this time too it votes against Iran," Ram Gopal Yadav, party General Secretary, told sources.
The warning from Samajwadi party, which has 40 MPs in Lok Sabha, came following a meeting of its Parliamentary Party which also decided to hold a rally along with Left parties at Ramlila Ground here to finalise a common strategy, he said.
The meeting was presided over by party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at the residence of Board Chairman Janeshwar Mishra.
