JD(S)national executive meet to discuss issues Sunday, February 19 2006 12:15 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The National Executive of JD(S) will meet here tomorrow (Feb 20,2006) to discuss the current political situation in the wake of a major chunk of party MLAs aligning with BJP and forming a Government headed by H D Kumaraswamy.
The meeting, to be chaired by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, who withdrew his resignation as party chief, will also discuss 'further steps' that can be taken against the rebel MLAs in the state as per the party constitution,
JD(S) spokesman Kunwar Danish Ali said here today (Feb 19,2006).
The Executive Committee meeting is expected to endorse the action taken by Gowda against the rebels.
Central leaders of the party and presidents of its state units have already supported Gowda's opposition to Kumaraswamy tying up with the saffron party.
Taking serious view of rebel MLAs' deserting the JD(S), the party president has suspended Kumaraswamy and 39 other rebel MLAs with immediate effect for their tie-up with BJP for forming a coalition and dislodging the Dharam Singh Ministry.
Kumaraswamy, who is Deve Gowda's son, has however described the party action against MLAs as 'an internal affair' of the party.
