No need to fix retirement of politicians: Scindia Sunday, February 19 2006 11:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Jyotiraditya Scindia, one of the youngest MPs and prominent among the youth leaders in Congress, is against a retirement age in politics and favours sting operations as long as that is in 'public interest'.
"Why retirement age in a profession? The decision as to whom to elect is taken by the people. We are living in the world's largest democracy having more than a billion people," Scindia, second time MP and Congress leader, said in an
interview to sources.
Noting that the current Lok Sabha has also the largest number of young members, he said that if the 'graph of young members is on the rise, then there is no cause for worry'.
Jyotiraditya, who plunged into politics some five years back after the death of his father, Madhavrao Scindia, described as unfortunate the tv exposes involving MPs, but said, "I can support a sting operation as long as it is in
public interest".
The scion of the Gwalior royal family dismisses queries whether he regrets joining politics saying that he has joined public service. He also shrugs of as 'hypothetical' questions whether he would be a Chief Ministerial aspirant in Madhya Pradesh in the elections three years later.
