'Land for proposed nuclear power plant identified' Sunday, February 19 2006 11:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today (Feb 19,2006) said he has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to set up the proposed nuclear power plant in Hisar as a land for it has already been identified.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of a 33 KV substation at village Chappar in this district, he said a renewable energy policy has been implemented in the State under which 1400 MW of additional
power would be generated through various renewable energy sources.
A renewable energy park named after Rajiv Gandhi was being constructed in Gurgaon at a cost of Rs. 1.13 crore, he said.
He said the foundation stone to set up a 1065 MW power plant has been laid at Faridabad and a MoU has been signed for installation of a 1000 MW gas-based power plant to be constructed at village Khungai in district Jhajjar.
Hooda said the State would get Rs. 700 crore from Central Government under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Programme.
Under this scheme, the rural consumers living below the poverty line would get electricity connection free of cost.
