Pondicherry: BJP hints for alliance with AIADMK

Pondicherry: The BJP will go it alone in all the 30 assembly constituencies in Pondicherry in the coming polls although there is a possibility of working out an alliance with the AIADMK here, BJP's Pondicherry unit president R Kesavalu said today (Feb 21,2006).

Addressing newsmen here, Kesavalu said a detailed report had already been submitted to the high command highlighting the political aspect of Pondicherry vis-a-vis the strategy the party should adopt.The High Command would take a decision on the pattern of alliance although there was a possibility for alliance with AIADMK, he said.

Kesavalu, who returned from Chennai along with the party's lone MLA in Pondicherry, A M Krishnamoorthy, after holding talks with top party leaders,said the party would invite applications from those aspiring to contest the polls on BJP ticket from March 5 to 9 at the party office here.

BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu would address a workers meeting here on March 9.The party's national president Rajnath Singh would visit Pondicherry on March 19 and address a joint meeting of workers, he said.

Venkaiah Naidu and the party's in charge of party affairs in Pondicherry S Thirunavukkarasar would be among those who would address the meeting, he said.

The Pondicherry administration should scrap the system of admitting students on the basis of Common Entrance Examination to professional courses. The Government should make the announcement of abolishing the test on the floor of the assembly which begins its brief session on February 23.

He also urged the Chief Minister to intervene and settle the demands of ministerial staff as at present their indefinite strike had thrown out of gear working in almost all departments.
