Tong urges India to open skies to more flights
Tuesday, February 21 2006 10:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Singapore: A senior Government official in Singapore yesterday (Feb 20,2006) urged India's aviation minister to allow more flights to India from the region to capitalise on growing demand.

Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong met with India's Civil Aviation Minister of State Praful Patel, who is in the city-state for the International Air Transport Association summit and Asian Aerospace exhibition, a Government statement said.

According to the statement, Patel briefed Goh on recent developments in India's civil aviation industry during the 45-minute meeting.

Goh "Encouraged India to take greater advantage of the growing demand for more flights to India from the region by opening up its skies to more flights,'' the statement said.

Officials from both sides will also be meeting soon to review the air services agreement between Singapore and India, it said.
