Don't surrender to United States: SP to Government Wednesday, February 22 2006 15:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Samajwadi Party today (Feb 22 2006) wondered how US President George Bush could be welcomed in the country when Parliament had passed a resolution condemning the US action on Iraq.
How could a person whose action on Iraq had been condemned by the entire House be welcomed when he makes a state visit in early March, SP member Janeswar Mishra said participating in the resumed discussion on the motion of thanks to the President's address in Rajya Sabha.
He said government should not surrender to the US, adding it was regrettable that through its envoy, it pressurised India to vote against Iran.
It was Iraq and Iran now and tomorrow it may be India, Pakistan or China, Mishra said adding the US approach of impinging on sovereignty of other countries should not be encouraged.
He accused Congress of promoting dynastic rule saying this did not augur well for the health of democracy.
The member said the UPA government should have resigned after the Supreme Court indicted it for recommending the dissolution of the Bihar assembly without verifying Governor's report.
