HC asks Commissioner details on Jessica Lal case Friday, February 24 2006 20:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Taking suo motu notice of reports of shoddy handling of the Jessica Lal murder case, the Delhi High Court today (Feb 24 2006) sought from police all the details in the case in which all the nine accused were acquitted by the lower court.
Issuing a notice, a division bench of Justice Vijender Jain and Rekha Sharma asked the Delhi Police Commissioner to file a status report within four weeks and posted the matter for hearing on April 19.
All the accused in the case, including Manu Sharma, son of Haryana Excise Minister Vinod Sharma, were acquitted by Additional Sessions Judge S L Bhayana on the premise that the prosecution failed to adduce proper evidence against the alleged killers.
