'Nitish-led NDA Govt has failed on all fronts' Friday, February 24 2006 18:06 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Opposition RJD-Congress combine today (Feb 24,2006) stepped up its offensive against Bihar's NDA Government, dubbing it as an 'utter failure' on all fronts and sought resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"No parallel can be drawn between the NDA Government and RJD regime of 15 years. More crime has taken place during the 90 days of the Nitish Kumar Government than our 15-year rule", opposition leader and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi told reporters.
She was reacting to Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi's claim of the NDA rule in Bihar helping the state cast off its image as a lawless and under-developed region.
The Nitish Kumar Government completed three months in office yesterday.
Alleging that the Nitish government was 'a total failure on all fronts', she said there has been 'phenomenal rise' in cases of kidnapping, extortion, murder, rape and dacoity in the last 90 days.
"A gory chapter in the history of Bihar has begun as the abductees, who earlier used to return safe, are now being killed", she charged.
The RJD leader demanded that the Chief Minister resign on moral grounds for not not fulfilling his promise of making Bihar 'crime-free' within three months.
"After all he (Nitish) has himself set the deadline for freeing the state from crime", she said.
