Pakistan-India people's forum has sought the greater people to people contact, cultural exchange and opening up of trade and commerce to dispel the atmosphere of doubt between two countries.
"The 66 members of Pakistani delegation of the forum, including its secretary general and secretary general of human rights commission of Pakistan and former law minister arrived here Wednesday (Feb 22, 2006).
Talking to sources the president of Sindh chapter of the forum, advocate Mir Sikander said the people of both sides of the border want to meet, have relations with each other and exchange their views.
Describing the enthusiasm of Pakistani people to re-establish the ties with their counterparts across the border, he said that when he came to India in the first train in jodhpur, lakhs of people at various railway stations in Pakistan cheered and greeted the train.
He also described the march conducted by the forum in December last in which thousands of peole marched from Hyderabad (Sindh) on December 17 and reached zero point on December 23. Similarly on the Indian side thousands of people marched from Jodhpur to zero point.
Though the two rallies were not allowed to meet, they could see each other across the border.
He said the delegation discussed the common interest with the Indian counterparts.
