Largest annual plan outlay for Railways: 2006-07

New Delhi: The annual plan outlay of the Railways for 2006-07 would be the largest ever at Rs 23,475 crore.

Of this, Rs 10,794 crore would be met through internally generated resources, while Rs 7,511 crore would come as support from the General Exchequer.

A sum of Rs 5,170 crore would be raised through extra-budgetary resources, including Rs 4,170 crore through market borrowing by Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Rs 500 crore each raised by Wagon Investment Scheme and Rwail Vikas Nigam Limited.

The thrust of the Annual Plan would be on early completion of throughput enhancement works, safety, development and expansion of the network.
