Solution to Kashmir lies in meaningful dialogue Saturday, February 25 2006 17:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Srinagar:
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) today (Feb 25 2006) said a solution to the Kashmir issue lay in a meaningful dialogue with the "real Kashmiri leadership."
"We in principle agree that an acceptable solution to the Kashmir issue is possible only through a process of meaningful and result-oriented talks in which the real Kashmiri leadership is involved," party chief Shabir Ahmad Shah said, addressing a gathering in Doodipora.
Shah, whose outfit spurned an invitation to the Prime Minister's Round Table Conference held in Delhi, said participation in any dialogue was possible only "when violation of human rights was stopped, black laws were revoked and all detunes were released in the state."
He said the ongoing "struggle" in Kashmir was based on "correct grounds. We reluctantly agreed for a resolution of the issue outside UN resolutions when India and Pakistan under internal and international pressure agreed to involve Kashmiris in the dialogue process as the first party to the issue," he said.
Shah had today gone to Doodipora in Kupwara to express his condolences to the families of the four youth allegedly shot dead by security forces.
