Best bakery case: Zaheera yet to react charges
Saturday, February 25 2006 14:38 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Ahmedabad: More than 24 hours after the Mumbai sessions court issued notice to Zaheera Shaikh and her family for perjury, the controversial witness in the Best Bakery case was yet to approach her advocate for future course of action.

"Zaheera is yet to contact me after yesterday's verdict given by the Mumbai court. I have no idea if she is in Mumbai, Vadodara or Ahmedabad," advocate Atul Mistri, who represents Zaheera, told sources here today (Feb 25,20006).

When asked if he found it strange that his client's whereabouts remained unknown when such a crucial judgement was delivered, he said, "Yes it is strange but there is nothing I can do."

The advocate said he was yet to receive a copy of the notice issued by the court to Zaheera in which she has been asked to reply within two weeks as to why she furnished false evidence (during the initial trial at a Vadodara fast track court).

Mistri said he would be able to comment on the further course of action only after Zaheera came forward and discussed the matter.
