J&K:Militants explode car bomb, 2 army jawans hurt

Srinagar: Militants today(Feb 26,2006) exploded a car bomb when an army convoy was passing through central Srinagar wounding two jawans critically, official sources said.

A stationary Maruti car laden with explosives went off near a hospital at Bemina at around 0950 hrs when an army convoy was passing through the area, they said.

Two army jawans were injured grievously when their vehicle was hit by splinters, the sources said.

Security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched a massive hunt for the attackers.

The powerful explosion shattered window panes of many houses at Bemina and adjoining areas.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
