CBI to file report on Salem's role in TADA court Sunday, February 26 2006 13:55 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
CBI is likely to file supplementary report in a TADA court on March one in regard to the alleged role of extradited gangster Abu Salem and his associate RiazSiddiqui in the 1993 bomb blasts.
Both the accused would be produced before the court for remand on the same day.
On last occasion, CBI sought time till March 1 to file supplementary report saying further investigations were on with regard to the role played by Salem and Siddiqui in the blast conspiracy. The court considered their plea and gave
time to file the report.
The plea of Delhi police to seek Salem's custody in an extortion case would be heard on March 2 as prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam argued that it could be considered after CBI files supplementary report on March 1.
The plea of Hyderabad police to seek Salem's custody in a fake passport case would also be heard on March 2.
Salem is charged with supplying arms and ammunition to co-accused including film actor Sanjay Dutt. The prosecution's case is that Salem had gone to Dutt's house with other accused and delivered an AK-56 rifle to him.
The actor has denied the charges and the witnesses have also turned hostile.
However, Salem has allegedly confessed his role in the blasts but the contents of the confession are not yet known as the confession is kept in a sealed cover before the court.
Copies of the confession would be given to the co-accused on March 1 when CBI files supplementary report, court sources said.
