Tuesday, February 28 2006 15:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Welcoming the Allahabad high court judgment setting aside the defection her party MLAs to Samajwadi Party, BSP chief Mayawati today(Feb 28,2006) demanded fresh polls in Uttar Pradesh and asked Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to quit politics.

"After the High Court judgement, Mulayam Singh Yadav should refrain from going through a drama of confidence vote and submit his resignation to the Governor," she said.

The Samajwadi Party chief should resign from the post of Chief Minister on moral grounds and quit politics for ever.

"We want fresh elections in the state," she said.

Terming the High Court decision as 'historic', Mayawati said, "I and my party welcome it wholeheartedly."
