Mulayam Singh moves confidence motion in assembly

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today (Feb 28 2006) moved a confidence motion in the state assembly.

In a pre-emptive move, Yadav tabled the confidence motion before the Allahabad High Court verdict setting aside the recognition of 40 deserting BSP MLAs, who subsequently joined the ruling Samajwadi Party.

The motion is expected to be pt to vote later in the day.
