Trial files added report on Salem and Siddiqui

Mumbai: The Prosecution today(Mar 1,2006) filed a supplementary report on further investigations of extradited gangster Abu Salem and his accomplice Riyaz Siddiqui's role in 1993 serial bomb blast case.

The supplementary report consists of 84 pages plus 54 pages of documentary evidence.

Salem and Siddiqui along with other accused in the bomb blast trial, including Sanjay Dutt, were present in the special TADA court here today.

The court has to decide now on whether Siddiqui should be sent to judicial custody in the bomb blast case.

The prosecution also requested that before furnishing copies of witnesses' statement regarding Salem's role to the other accused, names and addresses of these witnesses be deleted to protect their identity.

"Special prosecutor Ujjwal Nikham also revealed that investigation has disclosed the names of two more persons who are involved in the bomb blast conspiracy. Both of them are absconding and one of them is outside India," he said.

In another development, the TADA court opened the sealed envelop containing Salem's confession regarding his role in the serial bomb blast.

The copies of the confession will be furnished to the defence.The court will resume proceedings after lunch break.
