BSF alleged links with Bangla Rifles under attack Wednesday, March 1 2006 01:12 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Shillong:
BSF came under attack today (Feb 26 2006) in Meghalaya's Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council for its alleged links with Bangladeshi Rifles but the ruling party in the council refused to take any action on the central force posted along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Intervening in the zero hour discussion on the role of BSF in the border area falling under the jurisdiction of the Council raised by opposition leader Bindo M Lanong, chief executive member H S Shylla said the discussion about the central paramilitary force was not within the purview of the council.
''There is no scope to take action as the BSF as the force is directly involved with the Centre,'' Shylla said.
Lanong in his notice criticised BSF's role in the border areas alleging that it had links with Bangladesh Rifles. He also alleged that the general people were feeling insecure due to the 'terrorising activities' of the security force.
''The blacksheep (in the force) are playing the role of anti-India and anti-motherland elements and should be punished for tarnishing the image of the force,'' he added.
