Anti-Bush rally evokes lukewarm response in Kerala
Thursday, March 2 2006 12:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Thiruvananthapuram: The all-India hartal today(Mar 2,2006) called by naxalite outfit CPI-ML (Red Flag) against visit of US President George Bush evoked poor response in Kerala.

Reports from across the state said in most places state-run and private buses operated while shops, offices and educational institutions functioned normally.

The CBSE and other exams scheduled for the day commenced without any interruption.

A Kozhikode report said private buses kept off the roads while taxi and autorickshaw services were normal.

Barring isolated incidents of stoning of vehicles no violence was reported from anywhere in the state, police said.

A KSRTC bus driver suffered injuries in stone-pelting in Kozhikode. Another state-run bus came under attack in nearby Wayanad district.

Mainstream Left parties and radical groups have organized protests against the visit of the American president in the form of 'anti-imperialist' street protests.
