Moscow: Russia and Iran yesterday(Mar 1,2006) failed to achieve any breakthrough in their talks on the creation of a joint Uranium enrichment enterprise in Russia even as Tehran claimed that the enrichment of uranium was a 'sovereign right of any state'.

"It was a constructive and serious discussion, but questions remain," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak said after the talks.

Russia and Iran will continue consultations on the creation of a joint uranium enrichment enterprise in Russia on Thursday, Chairman of Iran's Supreme Council for National Security Ali Larijani said after talks with Russian Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov.

"We agreed that Russia will continue talks with other partners," he was quoted as saying by Itar-Tass.

Larijani reiterated Tehran's position that the enrichment of uranium is a 'sovereign right of any state.'

Asking the International Atomic Energy Agency to look for a 'fair solution' to the Iranian nuclear issue, he said, "It is necessary to look for a fair way out of this situation. If Iran's activities get a fair assessment, Iran will be ready to cooperate. I would avoid talking to Iran in the language of threats".

He believes that the 'economic aspect' must be taken into account while dealing with this issue.
