BJP defers Guwahati National Executive meeting Friday, March 3 2006 10:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

BJP yesterday(Mar 2,2006) postponed its proposed National Executive meeting in Guwahati from May 25-27 in view of the Assembly elections in the state on April three and 10.
"As the first phase of the Assembly elections in Assam will be held on April 3, it has been decided to postpone the national executive meeting in Guwahati", party spokesman Arun Jaitley announced here after a meeting of the party General Secretaries.
He said the meeting would now be held in May and the date and venue for the same would be announced later.
"The Central Parliamentary Board of the party would a meet on March 10 to discuss elections to the five state Assemblies and the Rajya Sabha," he said.
Jaitley also announced the appointment of former state Assembly Speaker H Barababu Singh as the Manipur state unit President.
The hour-long meeting, chaired by party President Rajnath Singh, was attended among others by Leaders of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha L K Advani and Jaswant Singh respectively besides party Vice-President Bal Apte, Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and other General Secretaries.
