Cong to take act partial actions of the Speaker Friday, March 3 2006 10:36 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Congress yesterday(Mar 2,2006) sought to remove the fig leaf of outside support to the beleaguered Mulayam Singh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh demanding Governor's intervention in view of 'biased' conduct of the Assembly Speaker in the BSP MLAs case.
The party, which has already demanded that the Chief Minister resign on moral grounds in the wake of the Allahabad High Court judgement, today said that the situation has turned serious due to 'partial' behaviour of the Speaker.
Party spokesman Rajiv Shukla told reporters that what was needed for the Speaker was to implement the verdict of the High Court, which has declared null and void a split in the BSP legislature party.
His comments came shortly after BSP chief Mayawati met Governor T V Rajeswar in Lucknow and urged him to start the proceedings of dismissing the state government which has been 'reduced to a minority' following the High Court decision.
Even as the SP claimed that its government enjoyed support of 243 MLAs, including 15 of Congress, in the 403-strong Assembly. Shukla suggested that the party's actions in the last few days have given unmistakable signals.
He said that the formal position of the party on the support issue could be seen when the Chief Minister would seek a trust vote as per rules.
