Business firms remain close to protest Bush's visit

Hyderabad: Business establishments and hotels remained closed in old city area here today(Mar 3,2006) in response to a bandh called by some muslim organisations, including Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT), to protest US President George Bush's visit.

A Joint Action Committee formed by various muslim organisations has given the bandh call.

Meanwhile, a high alert has been sounded in the city today in view of Bush's visit.

Vehicle checking and frisking operations are also being carried out at strategic points in old city where bandh is being observed.

The Left parties have planned a demonstration near Indira Park here later in the day to protest the US President's visit to the country.
