Friday, March 3 2006 17:25 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: A Railway ministry appointed committee, which went into finding out the causes of fire in the Sabarmati Express in Godhra, has held that fire in S-6 coach was accidental.

Justice U C Banerjee, who conducted the probe, in his final report submitted to Railway Board Chairman J C Batra, said that the cause of the fire in the S-6 coach on February 22, 2002, carrying kar sevaks, was accidental and not deliberate.

Justice Banerjee had already submitted an interim report in January 2005 expressing the similar view.
