N D Tiwari quits as Uttaranchal Chief Minister

Dehradun: Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today (Mar 04 2006) quit from the post and has sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"I have turned 81 and no person of my age is serving as chief minister in the country," Tiwari told sources adding he wanted to quit politics but would continue to participate in social life.

He said he had requested the party president to relieve him from office within a month.
