Irritated DMK workers set ablaze Vaiko cut-outs
Saturday, March 4 2006 17:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Tiruchirapalli: Angry over MDMK Chief Vaiko forging an alliance with the AIADMK, DMK workers today pulled down the cutouts of the leader and set them ablaze at the DMK conference venue here.

Describing Vaiko "ungrateful", they claimed that they were paying the price for the "hardship" they underwent while seeking the release of the MDMK leader (when he was detained under POTA in 2004).

Some volunteers said despite his old age, DMK Chief M Karunanidhi waited in the blazing sun to meet Vaiko at the POTA court in Poonamallee, near Chennai.

Karunanidhi also went to meet Vaiko in Vellore prison where he had been lodged.

"This is the price he (Vaiko) has given us. But we are not bothered about the MDMK leaving the front. We will win the polls hands down," they said.
