Saturday, March 4 2006 16:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Srinagar: Several hundred protestors today (Mar 04 2006) blocked Srinagar-Gulmarg Road in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir to register their protest against alleged high-handedness of troops in a village last night, official sources said.

The protestors blocked the road for nearly three hours at Khaipora village of Tangmarg, about 50 kms from here, alleging the troops in civvies molested a woman in Tantraypora village, the sources said.

Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully after intervention of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Tangmarg) Javid Geelani and the Commanding Officer of the Army unit, they said.

The Army officer denied the involvement of his troops in the incident though he assured a probe into it.
